keyboard shortcuts & windows buttons not working
in the past 12 hrs I have begun experiencing a major problem in Microsoft programs and some others on my desktop (I am using a laptop to report this). When I am in Outlook 2007, Word 2007, IE8, Microsoft Word and some other programs I am unable to enter text. When I type text, most letters do not appear, with certain key letters (for example "e" a drop down edit appears). The keyboard shortcuts are not working. The buttons on the toolbars are not working. Pointing to and clicking the "file", "edit" and other words at the top of the screen does not work. This has been happening only for the past 12 hrs. I have not installed any new software in the past 24 hrs. I have rebooted the desktop several times and turned off the desktop a couple of times. None of this resolved the problem.1 person needs an answerI do too

Hi,This is what I would recommend you to do.1. Boot your computer in Safe Mode with Networking by restarting your computer and pressing F8 until the Advanced Boot Options appear.2. Select Safe Mode with Networking.3. Open Internet Explorer and run a Full Service Scan of our OneCare Safety Scanner located athttp://safety.live.com.4. Take note of the items that it detected but CANNOT remove. Get back to me with the names of those items, if any.4. Restart the computer in the Normal Mode (the normal way you restart the computer).5. See if that problem still happens. If it still happens, perform a System Restore by clicking Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and System Restore. Select a Restore Point. Select a restore point that contains the date before the problem started.Let me know if this helps.

When I reboot pressing F8 does not cause anything to happen. I begin pressing F8 while the screen is still blank and continue holding F8 down until after the boot-up process is wll under way.I have used my laptop to download "OneCare Safety Scanner" to my desktop. Should I install the program before I try to Safe Mode again, or after starting via Safe Mode?
