keyboard and mouse dissapeared at lock (metro) screen and in safe mode. All working fine for many months but just dissapeared

This seems a common problem, what is the fix.

I have tried recovery boot from W8 disk plus from USB flash drive, nothing works just gets to metro screen and no mouse or keyboard.
