keyboard and mouse disappeared at lock (metro) screen and in safe mode. All working fine for many months but just dissapeared

This seems a common problem, what is the fix.

I have tried recovery boot from W8 disk plus from USB flash drive, nothing works just gets to metro screen and no mouse or keyboard.

Keyboard working in bios and mouse on recovery menu

Given up and reverted computer to factory default W7

Hi,

According to your description, seems like you already revert to Windows 7. Do you still want to upgrade to new system? We recommend that upgrade to Windows 8, then you could upgrade to Windows 8.1. If you have Windows 8.1 product key, you could upgrade to Windows 8.1 directly. Make sure that you download the installation media from official website.

Yes, some devices might not work properly after new system installed. If the issue still persists, please use another keyboard/mouse to confirm that if it is a system problem. In some cases, the default driver from Microsoft might cannot work properly, please try using driver program from manufacturer for good measure.

If other keyboard or mouse works fine, and you cannot find any working driver for problematic devices, please report to us.

The Windows Compatibility Center is a community generated database of compatibility information. You can look up your device or application there to see if other users have reported the device or app to be compatible or not. You can also provide feedback and rate the compatibility of apps or devices to help answer the questions of other users of Windows.

Again thanks for your advice but so as to be entirely clear. I upgraded to W8 Pro with disk and code then 81 with Microsoft auto update. Everything and I cannot stress strongly enough, everything worked fine for over twelve months including automatic updates.

Then without warning after tuning off and then on turning on next day, no mouse no keyboard, the only possible update between everything working and then not was a W8.1 auto update.

I will I think wait for W 10 to change from W7.I cannot risk it happening again.
