just wondering--why'd the MD5-hash thread vanish?
The thread disussing the MD5/SHA1 hash for the released RC seems to have disappeared without explanation. Is that accidental or deliberate? If deliberate, is it because the hash values can be used to confirm the integrity of the unofficial (Torrent) RC distributions? I'd understand not wanting to support the spread of versions not intended for public release. But since the RC is indeed released to the public, the only problem with unofficial distribution channels is the possibility of installing a hacked or corrupted image--which is exactly what the MD5/SHA1 hash information can prevent. The information is now readily available elsewhere, so I'm not complaining, just wondering what the policy here is. Thanks.

Hi GaryThis thread will be locked, but I wanted you to understand the reasons.Although the leaked builds, downloaded from torrentsis a reality, it is the policy of these forums to avoid discussing or supporting these leaked builds for obvious reasons.Another reality is that the MD5 and SHA-1 cryptographic algorithms, although strong, have been proven to bevulnerable to focused hacking. As the only official Microsoft Windows 7 Support forums, we have a responsibility to our members to provide accurate and trusted information. The only Windows 7 builds that are officially supported here are those that are downloaded from Microsoft properties.Thank you for understanding.
