java not working in any browser
I am using the 7100 build of windows 7 and I play on club pogo a lot. I was not having any problems at all with the 7000 build but now java won't load in firefox or internet explorer. I have no idea what to do. I am a computer tech at a local shop here but noone knows anything about windows 7 and I cant find the answer. Help :(

Try downloading and installing the standalone version of Java:http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jspCarey Frisch

Hi maniacgravy, Try downloading and installing it using IE instead of firefox to see if that makes a difference.

Hi maniacgravy: I installed Firefox prior to installing Java and had the same problem. I found that uninstalling Firefox in control panel/programs/uninstall, re-starting the PC and then re-installing the latest Java version first, then re-installing Firefox worked and my online stock trading Java program started working immediately.

Tried out using java on my internet banking web site (www.bradesco.com.br).Seems to be working ok. Java is deployed in passwords etc so can't really say that this test was exhaustive...Google Chrome seems to have a problem using java - at least on that site.Ambidextrous installed Windows 7 Release Candidate on an HP Pavilion dv1000 Laptop with a Centrino 1.86 GB CPU and 2 GB RAM.

Hi Ambidextrous: In a recent post on this site called "frequently asked questions", one of the questions covered "which browsers will work with Win7". If I recall correctly Firefox was the only one besides IE listed as working correctly with Win7.

Hi newnerdMight be. The java issue is - until now - the only problem I have encountered with Chrome. Ambidextrous installed Windows 7 Release Candidate on an HP Pavilion dv1000 Laptop with a Centrino 1.86 GB CPU and 2 GB RAM.Tried using java again today. No problems. No problems detected with Chrome.

I and many others have had problems using any Java release after build 7. (note that is the Java release, not Windows) This is not restricted to Windows 7. Here is a link for Java problems which I have encountered, it may not be applicable in your case but may point you in the right direction http://wiki.modplugin.org/index.php/FAQ#Why_doesn.27t_it_work_with_Java_Update_10_or_11.3F

I advice you to uninstall all java software you have, reset IE to default settings and make it your default browser, then reinstall java from the link Carey gave to you. pay attention to:windows 7 64 bit uses the default 32bit IE, you have to install the java that suits your IE bit. if you are using the IE64bit then download the java 64bit. Are you using both? then download both versions.regards, It's all about Windows.

Ok, now I don't feel as bad, I am a moderately knowledgeable computer user with teenagers to help me. We are having the same problem and the wmp doesn't play sound and other downloads won't work. java installs, but won't do anything. I tried everything suggested in the forum. Good luck.

The first time I tried installing Java it did not work. I simply just tried it a second time and it installed no problem. I used the link from the Java homepage, java.com and it downloaded and installed just fine. Hope this helps. Build 7100, Centrino Duo 1.66ghz. 3BG RAM.

I have seen the same behaviour on both Chrome and IE8Ambidextrous installed Windows 7 Release Candidate on an HP Pavilion dv1000 Laptop with a Centrino 1.86 GB CPU and 2 GB RAM.

i had the same problem heres what i did to fix it... first download this dll file(msvcr71.dll) from this site: http://www.dll-files.com ignore the green download buttons on this site because that is for some kind of scanner, look for a link(text) that says "Click here to go to the download of msvcr71.dll " then a popup will come up and then finally click on "Download msvcr71.dll " then unzip the file then copy and paste it to windows/system32 folder AND if you have 64 bit also paste it to windows/syswow64 folder. reboot pc and then give firefox or IE a try! Hope it helps like it did me!

Thank you so much, mrnalley. I had this problem with a fresh installation of Windows 7...and was frustrated to find java wasn't working with any browser. I acquired a new msvcr71.dll file via the link you posted and replaced the copy already in my System32 file...it worked like a charm! Thanks again for your help :)
