is thier a way to batch script screen resoultion changes?

My tablet runs at 1920x1600 but is only 10.1 inches,  and its fine most of the time, however when I need to use RDP to remote in to a win7 box or win server 2003/8R2.   The screen is often time just too small to be useful.  I can change the Screen res down, then connect, once done change the screen size back to normal.   I'm looking for a way to automate that a bit, a simple batch file that would change the res, then connect to a server using rdp, then once that connect ends and RDP closes, set the screen back.

or alternatively is there a way to force RDP to change the desktop screen res to the resolution used in the connection settings.  if you full screen RDP the connection stays the same, and adds empty black space as filler, but does not stretch the remote machine's connected screen.

thanks in advance!
