is it possible for Polycom device to work with Lync online without a Lync Server?

Hello All,

I have a client who is already using Lync Online on their infrastructure for both video and voice solutions but want to enhance this solution as he uses a laptop in a conference room which isn't giving him the expected video and also a poor audio quality. This client wants an enhanced video display by connecting to a LCD screen and also an enhanced audio quality. i proposed the Polycom CX5000 with a Microsoft Lync Server for the client but the client does not want to purchase the Server, he wants a Polycom or any hardware device that will work directly with his already existing Lync Online solution. Am aware the CX5000 will not work with the Lync Online except with the Server. Kindly correct me if am wrong and i need suggestions on an available solution to this.

What do i use to work with the already existing Lync Online without purchasing a server?

Hi,

go for Polycom HDX 7000 or Realprecense series hardware.

For a Lync Online only customer (with no Hybrid, on-premises Lync server deployment) only the CX5000 series of video products are supported to directly connect to the O365-Shared environment.  The CX7000 works with Lync Online if you have not yet been upgraded to Lync 2013, and Lync 2013 support for that device is in the works.

All other existing video conferencing solutions need to leverage the on-premises Lync server present in a typical Hybrid Lync Online deployment.
