I don't find anything useful when Googling "NIT 98" so I can't answer that part of your question. However, there is no way a Windows 98 machine can safely go on the Internet. It can't be protected by current firewall and antivirus software and it will be a danger to itself and others. If you have no plans to put the computer on the Internet, you could keep it to play little games on or the like.
