invalid product key
I have just bought a computer, and it had the trial windows 7 home premium, I had bought the full windows 7 home premium and installed it all and now it is trying to activate itself but pops up with a message saying "the product key you typed cannot be used to activate windows 7 on this computer". It is a valid product key and workd on both of my other computers.

You said it worked on both of my other computers? You do realize that you need one license PER machine unless its the family 3 pack. You can't just be installing it willy nilly on any computer ;) Now that the hardware has significiantly changed, they'll want you to do the phone call validation. That won't be approved until you purchase another copy or remove Windows 7 from the other 2 computers. In this situation too I think you could do a anytime upgrade, what was the regular operating system on this computer? I assume Vista correct?MCSE, MCSA, MCDST [If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. Just as it has *always* been with *all* Microsoft operating systems, it's necessary (to be in compliance with both the EULA and U.S. copyright law http://www4.law.cornell.edu/uscode/17/117.html), if not technically) to purchase one Windows 7 license for each computer on which it is installed.
