installed new wifi router and now Can't connect Win 7 Laptop to networked printer
I just updated my wifi router and can get web access on my network including my laptop. I can see the network name on my printer when I go through the WLAN set-up. But the printer does not appear on the wireless laptop. I have access to the printer from the wired computers. Everything worked fine before the update wifi. I have tried putting the Ip address of the printer directly into the laptop when trying to find a printer but it doesn't work. I'm on HP laptop and the printer is a Brother MFC 820CW. I've tried every configuration (firewalls, homegroups, etc) and can't seem to get the printer to do what it did before, which is show up as an option. I followed the direction on the printer to reset up a wireless network (even though it is plugged into Cat 5 I thought I'd try.) Anything? Any help would be appreciated.

You need to roll back the update. If the update is causing problems just remove it. Open up the Windows Update Window and click update history. The Review your Update History page, each entry specifies the update type. To uninstall an update, click installed Updates, to display the Uninstall an update page. From this page you can select an update to uninstall (click on toolbar) You might need to install a windows 7 driver. (assuming that the wired computers are running less than Win7)Go on the Brother website and download the latest driver. Hope this helps mate :)

Hi, Can you ping the ip address for the printer? Did you update the router from the manufacture's website? Please reinstall the wireless adapter from Device Manager manually. Go to reset wireless setting and perform a Clean Boot. Also try to add the printer as a local printer. 1. Go to Devices and Printers 2. Click Add a printer 3. In the Add Printer Wizard, select Add a local printer. 4. On the Choose a printer port page, make sure that the Use an existing port option button and the recommended printer port are selected, and then click Next. 5. On the Install the printer driver page, select the printer manufacturer and model, and then click Next.
