incorrect system time (internet set) - repeated

Hi,

windows 8.1 (64) - system time is set 'to automatically synchronise' with ... one of the offered options for my time zone, but it keeps coming up wrong (out by a few hours, which causes problems with homegroup among other things).

Generally able to reset to a correct time by choosing a different url / source, but that's annoying.  Is this normal?  Doesn't seem to happen on my other windows 8.1 (64), or any of my windows 7 pc's.

Does it suggest some problem in the installation or local network (this computer is in an odd position - connected to a wired ap that runs off a bridge that connects to an ap; there are reasons for this weirdness)?

Thanks

Thanks Kate,

The Bios is up to date.

I doubt the battery is at fault - I haven't noticed time problems when I boot into Ubuntu (but I'll double check on that).

SFC /scannow reports 'Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.'

Mostly warnings of the form 2015-06-09 14:27:54, Info                  CSI    00000819 [DIRSD OWNER WARNING] Directory [ml:66{33},l:64{32}]"\??\C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Recovery" is not owned but specifies SDDL in component Microsoft-Windows-WinRE-ReAgentConfig, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_INTEL (0), Culture neutral, VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral'

Any further advice?

Thanks

Re-installing from scratch (with an SM951 drive) is faster than trying to manually correct these errors.

SFC /scannow now shows no problems - hopefully my time travel is over.
