i was run happy a small network with xp (all three machines talked and shared everything), recently the laptop was changed so that it became 64 enabled, so i installed (via clean install) windows 7. the two other machines happly talk and share everything, but the windows 7 machine although sees the router still will not see eithermachine... I have check everything i can, all are set to share with full permisions in place, all are using the same mshome group name. do i have to remove windows 7 and reinstall the 32 bit version, or is there something i missed?

Check if you can ping the Windows XP computers from the Windows 7 computer by IP Address or Computer Name; and check if you can access the Windows XP computers share by typing \\<computername>\<sharefolder> or <IP Address>\<sharefolder>. 2.
