im not sure what to call this problem. my windows is failing hard.
please help. i have windows 7 64 bit, and i can't open: network and sharing center, event viewer, most of the options in control panel, including system, power options, display, etc. no matter how many times i repair or run the fixit on my microsoft updater,
i can't actually use it. i cannot open the system restore option, so i can't restore to a previous save where these are not problems. ive found a few solutions online, but i don't quite know what the actual problem is and im sick of trying to treat the symptoms.
also, i discovered this problem when i downloaded the new WOW patch. after successful download, i can't actually open the program. processes shows that it is not a running program, and it will flash the screen trying to open until i shut down or restart.
possibly an unrelated problem, back when all of these microsoft programs worked, i have been unable to update my graphics drive. i have nvidia; when i went to the website for the direct downloads (because the updater didn't work) i was able to download,
but i received an error message at the beginning of installation.
if you have any idea about what the problem is, please post! even if you can't help fix it, any information is helpful.
thanks!

Hi
Here are a few things you can try first of all start your computer and go to safe mode (Press F8) and then
chose the option safe mode then try system restore. If you don't get the solution you can try System RE to
Repair the windows . you did not mention the error msg or something Could you please elaborate your issue
you can try to restore your computer if you are able to use cmd, Go to run and type CMD make sure you chose the
option "run as adminstrator" and open the commond prompt and type
rstrui.exe It should work. Please let me know
if it works if it does not elaborate your issue what happens if you try to go to event or network and sharing center
Thanks & Best Regards

Truthfully
You can chase these problems one at a time but you will probably end up doing a clean install anyway so you might as well do it now. Just make sure you back up your data, and yes you will have to re-install your apps.MS-MVP 2010, 2011, 2012 Sysnative.com Team ZigZag

Hi,
As the current situation, youd better to perform In-Place Upgrade to repair the system.

Re-installing windows from scratch (DVD). It is a PITA but usually is the quickest way to get back working and always ends in the most efficient possible. Just realize you will have to re-install your applications etc.MS-MVP 2010, 2011, 2012 Sysnative.com Team ZigZag

clean install?
Hi,
In-Place upgrade is a way to repair installation of the system. Performing a repair installation will not damage files and applications that are currently installed on your computer. However, it takes the same amount of time to do the upgrade as to reinstall
the operating system.
Please refer to this.
