Hi, Internet Explorer 8 is built in Windows 7 system and you can enable it in the Turn Windows features on or off. There are two versions of Internet Explorer 8 in your system, IE8 64-bit and IE8 32-bit. IE8 64-bit is the default. If you would like to use the IE8 32-bit, you may refer to the following link: I have Windows 7 64-bit and need to use Internet Explorer 32-bit Regards, Sabrina TechNet Subscriber Support in forum. I just purchased a HP laptop yesterday for work. One of the companies we work with can ONLY work with IE8, the HP laptop had same scenario like your's was already upgraded before sale from IE8 to IE9. So IE8 comes native with Windows 7 64 bit Please do this at your own risk, it worked for me! I will write all notes as if you are doing this step by step. Instead of putting asterix and asking you to scroll down to read! Who reads?? This is what I did. go to www.firefox.com and download a browser (because you will be without a brouser for a little bit, you always want a way out incase things don't work perfect).. when you install any programs, do not install the extras! Eventually they will slow your computer down or open door way for malware. Click on Windows Start Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs ADD/Remove Windows Components You will see IE9 in there, click to remove. On the left panel you should also see a link that says "View installed updates". Click on it and remove IE9 updates. Restart the computer Click on Windows Start Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs ADD/Remove Windows Components I saw IE8 there! Click on it to add it! I expect if you purchased your computer before this answer OR about 3 months after this answer.. it will work for you just as it did for me. Run windows update to update security features for IE8 and make sure DO NOT select IE9 among the updates. From now on, you will have to ignore IE9 update/upgrade. Have a great day!
