Zhang,Please be more "step by step" specific on item 6You sayIn the Command Prompt window, run the commands one by one:CD /d %userprofile%\AppData\LocalDEL IconCache.db /aThe first (CD command) brings me one step forwardThe second (DEL command) however brings me nowhere. The computer does not seem to acknowledge the .db file.A majority of my favorite IE Icons turn generic when sent to the desktop on allfour familyVISTA / IE8 lap tops. I fixed the first one a year ago, however experience the same again this summer on our new PCs. Please leave detailed instructions thatare easy to follow.Thanks.jpheyer

Thanks, Asdy & Zhang.Things worked out okay. Two items you may want to add to the bewildered next in line to make things "bulletproof";The open "space"between DEL and IconCache makes a bigdifference. The task managerwill not give"confirmations" on the Delete command. Thanks again,jp
