Go back to whomever you bought it from and tell them you need the restore disk to restore the computer to its original factory state.

Hi, I recently bought a laptop from the company where I worked who were going bust. The laptop was not wiped, and i cannot access it as its still looking for the password to the companys network. How can I bypass this in order to reinstall xp home? Its current OS is xp professional.

Put the XP Home CD in the disc drive and shut down. When you turn the computer on, right when the BIOS screen shows (like when it says "HP Invent" or "Gateway") quickly depress one of the following keys: F5 (if it's Dell and some others), Del, F1, F10, or some other F-key. It depends on your computer manufacturer. Then, if a screen comes up asking for the boot device, choose the optical disc drive, and press enter. Then press any key to boot off of the CD when prompted to. Then, you can reformat the hard drive, make new partitions, and install XP anew. You need to act quickly when booting from the CD, because the screens change quickly.
