how to update to windows 7 sp1
hi
I have genuine win 7 professional. but I have changed update setting to notify me about updates and let me choose whether download and to install them. i have installed all important and optional, security updates. but windows update service does
not pick win7 SP1. why is that ? all the other updates are installed. is that a problem of my O/S ?? again i'm telling that my O/S is genuine. do any one can give me a clue ? i can manually download and install win 7 SP1. i'm wondering whether it
will be a problem. becuase my system didnt pick up the SP1.U.L Ranmal

SP1 will normally only be shown in Windows Updates once all other updates are installed - are you saying that it's showing there, but you can't opt to install it?
You can check the validation status of your computer by going to
www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate
- you'll be offered IE9 and MSE if it passes (you don't have to take them!).

no I cant find SP 1 in update window. do I need to download this software, because i have activated my copy of windows 7 and its working fine, as you mentioned i will download and retest it again.U.L Ranmal

i've now checked with the link that you have provided and it says that my copy is genuine..... I can download WSE and IE9 :P
I've done this before also

Check your System Properties and make sure it's not already installed
Click on Start, type System, and wait for the System shortcut to appear at the top - click on that, then check that the Windows Edition is correct, and that it does NOT say Service Pack 1 (if it does, then SP1 is already installed)
Yes, SP1 is necessary - for one thing, installing it acts as a check that all other required updates are properly installed.

as you told I have already double checked. I will try to manual install method and lets see what will happen, first of all will take a system backup :P

Do you have the 64-bit version installed? If yes, try this:

Then check Windows Updates for SP1.
