it's password protected. and the router is connected to the pc. we have 4 laptops . we never had any problems until a few months ago. we put the password in last month and it seems it has solved the problem until a few days ago. i just got a new laptop and I am in the process of moving files from my old one. I am using windows 7 easy file transfer with a usb key so that shouldn't affect it.I am puzzled.any help would be appreciated thank you

(1) Until you verify that all computers are clean of any sort of infection - trojan, rootkit, virus, malware - all effort to stop upload will be in vain.(2) You could atleast amke sure that Remote Assistance is disabled on ALL comp[uters in the networkgo to: Control Panel > SYSTEM > System Properties > REMOTE > [UNCHECK] Allow Remote Asistance connections to this computer(3) This is a scary scenario - so make sure all computers have thier INDIVIDUAL System Recovery discs.(4) Backup all data to external media (DVD\USB\HD).This is to make sure that you have necessary arsenal in case you MAY need to re-install OS to factory install level.Make sure all computers have firewall, or atleast the router has the central firewall. All computers should have antivirus/malware/trojan.And, if you ever do a financial transaction, make sure all of the systems are clean...otherwise your risks are unknown.talk to your ISP if you suspect abnormal uploading without your consent..at least they can monitor traffic and help you and others.Because you did not provide minimal network setup information, you have a long way to go before securing home netwrok...don't get scared..but be prepared...you can do it with huge microsoft community supporters.

Hi, thanks for your help, I just went and uncheck the remote assistance on my new laptop. we all have firewall and and recovery disk. and we also have antispyware etc.the system seemend very secure since we secure the connection is password protected.I'll wait another day to see if that helped. we turned all computers off for most of the day so we'll see if it also helped. thank you and I'll be back for more help
