how to share the internet connect of my PC with Ipod touch?
I try to share the internet connection of PC with my Ipod touch (C). On my PC here are two network adapters: one wired (A) en one wireless (B). The following steps has been taken: 1,A has been shared. automatically get IP and DNS server. 2,an ad hoc wireless network (D) has been build up without passwords. Problem: C can find D and connect to it, but not able to access internet. Question: 1, should B be connected to D? 2, How should I setB? (automaticatlly get IP and DNS or specific?) 3, How should I set C? (automaticatlly get IP and DNS or specific?) Details, when both B and C connect to D: A: Description: NVIDIA nForce Networking ControllerDHCP Enabled: YesIPv4 IP Address: 192.168.0.3IPv4 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0IPv4 Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1IPv4 DHCP Server: 192.168.0.1 IPv4WINS Server:IPv4 DNS Servers: 62.179.104.196, 212.142.28.69NetBIOS over Tcpip Enabled: YesLink-local IPv6 Address: fe80::cd01:f993:cca2:68a7%8IPv6 Default Gateway: IPv6 DNS Server: B: Connection-specific DNS Suffix: Description: Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO USB Network Adapter #3Physical Address: 00-17-3F-62-C7-0CDHCP Enabled: YesIPv4 IP Address: 169.254.151.102IPv4 Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0IPv4 Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1IPv4 DNS Server: 169.254.151.102IPv4 WINS Server: NetBIOS over Tcpip Enabled: YesLink-local IPv6 Address: fe80::6d2a:494:9dd8:9766%12IPv6 Default Gateway: IPv6 DNS Server: C: DHCP mode IPv4 IP Address: 169.254.99.204 Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0 Router: DNS: 169.254.151.102 Note: can't find router here! Thanks a lot for your help, this problem has taken me a whole day.

Hi yaozm2000, Regarding your questions, please check the following information: 1. B should be connect to D automatically after ad hoc wireless network is created. 2. B should get the IP address 192.168.0.1/255.255.255.0 (static) after enabling ICS. 3. C should be configured to DHCP enabled. In this case, I notice that the IP subnet of the Router is 192.168.0.x/255.255.255.0. I am not sure if it conflicts with ICS. Thus, I suggest changing the IP subnet for the router from 192.168.0.x/255.255.255.0 to another subnet such as 192.168.1.x/255.255.255.0. After that, please refer to the following steps to confirm if the ICS is enabled correctly on the Windows Vista computer: 1. In Network Connections control panel, right-click A and select Properties. 2. Select Sharing tab, select the Allow other network users to connect through this computers Internet connection check box and select B under Home networking connection: Note: In order to ensure ICS is enabled correctly, if the check box has been selected before, please perform the following steps: 1) Clear the check box, and click OK. 2) Then, perform the step 2 in italic font mentioned above to enable ICS. Once Ipod connects to the ad hoc wireless network, B should get the IP address 192.168.0.1/255.255.255.0 (static), and C will be assigned an IP address in the 192.168.0.x subnet. Hope it helps.

I have a week WiFi signal that can barely get it on my laptop (from the neighborhood) and not at all on my iPod Touch. I set my laptop, which is receiving a WiFi signal, as a computer-to-computer network and my iPod Touch will connect to it. But the iPod Touch can not access the internet. I have searched the internet for hours and made all kinds of changes and I get the same results. Any ideas? running Vista.

Try Googling things like that. There are some windows settings for shared conections. Poutnik The best depends on how the best is defined.
