how to import a single disk from a mirror?
My main computer died and I'm not sure when I'm going to be able to repair it. I need to get some data off it. Here is how it was setup: 80gb drive for Windows 7 and apps two mirrored 1tb drives (mirrored using software, dynamic disks) I need some data off the mirrored drives. I have a Windows 7 (home) laptop. I put one of the mirrored drives into a USB2 SATA enclose and plugged it into the laptop. Disk Management says the Disk is Dynamic and Invalid. My options are Convert to Basic Disk and Reactivate Disk. I haven't been able to find any info on the internet about how to proceed from here. Don't want to pick one of the above options and loose the data. Though I guess I still should have another disk with the same data on it. Any advice or insight would be appreciated! Thanks, -jason m

Check this MS KB ,,,, is should help provide some info. Also see These Google Links Reactivate Disk should be fine, but don't take my word for it, as I have never had to deal with this. Do not select Convert to Basic, I believe you will lose all data on the drive.

Blah. Didn't work. I ran Reactivate Disk and it said "this operation is not allowed on the invalid disk pack". Been searching through a bunch of KBs and am not seeing anything of interest.

Could it be because you are running it off USB i wonder?

TestDisk 6.11 seems to be working! It's copying off some important files that I hadn't gotten around to backing up yet (photos). Once that's done, I'm going to try and use it to convert from dynamic to basic.
