how to decrypt a file in windows 7 with unknown user but certificate thumbprint availabe
hi, i have a problem for opening a file. the file is now encrypted in my E: hard drive. i am now working with windows 7. when i encrypted, i couldn't able to back-up. i lost the encryption key. when i try to decrypt the file, it says that i don't have rights to access the file while i'm in admin. what i know is that, i can see the certificate thumbprint number (277C 467E 1341 3CA8 5681 6FAA 7D1A A537 85B6 ED3B)followed the deleted user(mustapha). that time, there was a user who is no longer exist right now. the file is quite significant to me. could you please tell me if there is a way out of this morass. what's worse is that, i can't even move or copy the file but i can delete it. i tried to follow some how-to in certmgr.msc tips there, but there was no help. i tried to import the file in this techniques but the file can't allow the wizard of certmgr.msc to open it. i am stuck with a grieve dilemma. Hasa2, Do i understand this correctly that.: You used the user mustapha to encrypt a file and after the encryption you removed this user? If this is the case you can't decrypt the file anymore. But elcom soft can try to recover the deleted certificate. Take a look at this software... http://www.crackpassword.com/products/prs/mswin/efs/ Kind Regards DFTIM me - TWiTTer: @DFTER
