i using windows 8.1 mail app all the time, and manage some mail account.It is right all the time.

But recently, one of  the mail servers  which i am using, set some rule to forbid some mail client to access, by detecting user-agent. It just allows their own mail client. So, how can I change the user-agent of windows mail app, so that i can continue using win8.1 mail app to receive and send mails.

What do you mean by saying the User-agent here?

For the mail account in Windows Mail App, you could manage it through Settings(you need to open mail app and mouse the mouse to the right side)->Accounts, then select the account that you want to change settings.

recently i have found that in another pc, which is runing an old version windows mail app, the mail app can connect to the 3-party mail server. while now the pc i used (with the newest version) cannnot connect to.

the old version of mail app in another pc is : 17.5.9600.20413

and the new version of the pc now i used is : 17.5.9600. 20689

how can i downgrade the mail app

You may consider to use File History/System restore to restore back.

Meanwhile, would you please have a share with the 3rd-party mail server, I will take a test at my side.

Windows Apps' update is managed by Windows Store, I can't find any possible to downgrade Apps from there.
