I'm not sure I quite understand your problem A partition can be mounted as an empty NTFS folder or as a drive letter. If it has a drive letter then the icon will display as a drive icon. If you want to change the drive letter to an ntfs folder then type diskmgmt.msc in your search box(opens Disk Administrator) right click the new partition that is assigned a drive letter and select change drive letters and paths select the drive and choose remove . choose yes at the prompt right click the new partition again and select change drive letters and paths and then select add and then select mount in the following ntfs folder browse or choose your folder If you want to change the ntfs folder mount to adrive letter then its the reverse of above type diskmgmt.msc in your search box(opens Disk Administrator) right click the new ntfs folder that is assigned and select change drive letters and paths select the folder and choose remove . choose yes at the prompt right click the new partition again and select change drive letters and paths and then select add and then select assign the following drive letter. thanks for the reply... here i am not going to assign any drive letter to the partition instead i am going to mount that partition to a folder..so that i am able to browse that partition with out have any drive letter through folder, when i mount partition to folder then the folder icon is changing automatically to in the form of shortcut and icon changes to drive...which i do not want...my folder appearance should be same after i mounted partition also...Thanks Veera

If you mean this icon I believe this is intentional and by design. Possibly so one can differentiate between an actual folder and a mounted partition. Regards, ~P MCSE, MCITP, MCTS, MCP, CCNA
