Vote me if you want to thanks. okey?Open/Close port ? If the app want to connect to outside it must open a port (certainly). After it finishes, the port will automatically closed.Firewall is the thing which control permission for opening &monitoring port on your pc.Without FW your pc could be hacked by a trojan and you would not know it.Keep an eye on ports on pcto protect your pc

Hi, The netstat command can be used to check local ports status. Please refer the following article. Windows Client TechCenter netstat The following website may be referred. Quickly Find Local Open Ports Important Note: Microsoft provides third-party contact information to help you find technical support. This contact information may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this third-party contact information. Regarding the issue you encountered, I suspect that the network device driver is not compatible so it would not back to work properly after the system enters Sleep Mode. Please try to upgrade the driver. If it does not help, please open Device Manager, find the entry of the WIFI device and double-click on it. Click Power Management tab, and uncheck the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". If the above suggestions do not work, we may need to wait for manufacturer to release new Windows 7 compatible driver.Arthur Xie - MSFT

Hello, Using netstat I can find porst that are already in use, I mean they are in stablished state or listening, But, I have disabled firewall and I have problem connecting to SQL server or remote desktop from a remote computer, One step is checking if the port is open or it's access is denied by sth like firewall. How can I check if the port is accessible and is note closed by anything. In older versions of windows like windows XP or 2003, I could use "telnet" command to check this, eg. I used : telnet 10.0.0.1 1433 But in windows seven, I have the port open, I can connect from the remote PC, but the telnet command fails!!
