i've networked my win 7 pc with 2 macs through a single switch. All have internet access. Both macs can ping the pc, but it can ping only one of the macs. The one it can't ping can grab files etc from it. Tracert from the pc to this mac times out on 1st hop. Any thoughts?

Ensure there is no firewall blocking on each PC, sometimes ping failure is due to firewall blocking. Try to ping between MACs too, this will give more more ideas on which PC got problem. Hope this helps. dawooddoe Home Network & Wireless Network Help

Thanks Dawooddoe, but I am able to ping the other mac and both can ping the pc. The pc can see both macs, as they show up under network in explorer. I've checked the firewalls and the sharing settings and can't see why the one mac remains unreachable from the pc.
