hi i have a problem with black wallpaper / desktop : suddenly my wallpaper turned black.
hi i have a problem with black wallpaper / desktop (win xp sp3 ,all updates from update.microsoft.com) : suddenly my wallpaper turned black. i tried to change in corresponding dialog - but strange in the dialog there is wallpaper - (in small picture) but on the desktop there is only black , when i change position setting to "center" or "tile" - the wallpaper appear , only if position setting is "stretch" the wallpaper is black ... this behavior is for pictures 1024x780 for pictures 1680x1050 - they are all black: in center , tile or stretch ... after reboot the wallpaper is ok for a while and then again becomes black i used malwarebyte - no malware , i used registry file with setting of registry - mentioned in the forum here - no result , i created user account and tried to log in it by switch used function - i was unable to log on - the screen blinked and i was returned to user choosing screen ... sfc /scannow completed with no errors and no change to the problem .... (i did not restarted after completion) for a moment the wallpaper appeared again when i was playing with center tile , stretch options and then i tried to log on on the other user account - i succeeded but resolution was 640x480 i was unable to change - i returned to my user - after time suddenly the wall paper disappeared again - and then i was unable to restore , and i was unable to log on to the other user account . i hate restarting so i use hibernation as much as i can but this might be a problem? it seems that my computer has a lot of problems. is there way to repair some of the problems automatically ? recently i tried repair option on windows setup - this was of use but unfortunately only partially i hope someone help thanks best regards4 people need an answerI do too

ialtaparmakov , First question is your copy of WinXP illegally installed. They just updated to warn you. There is speculation that soon you will lose all control to use your computer if you don't get a legit copy. Check your Key. WGA = Windows Genuine Advantage If you have more issue call Microsoft to correct! OR I would try a anti-Virus scan as well. AVG - Anti-Virus - Free Spybot - Spy-ware - Free Good Luck! Please rate me up if you find my post helpful. Thank you!

i seems that the problem might be connected to graphics driver - bu i have the latest driver - 175.19_geforce_winxp_32bit_english_whql.exe - perhaps it got damaged ? after resuming of hibernation the windows resumed to black screen and i have to reset the computer after restart some of settings of color correction of the graphic card nvidia gforce fx 5500 was lost but the wallpaper is not black for now as i remember the installation of that driver it was very difficult to make the driver to work correctly with tvout - i don't want to go this way again ... and i hate to restart ... by the way is it possible to make partial hibernation? i mean to save memory not for entire windows but only for some processes or programs and then after restart to resume only these programs from the sate before restarting ? perhaps it is already done in win vista or win 7 ?

What you can do is narrow down the issue to either the Graphic card or issue in the operating system, I hope you are using Windows XP. Well to check whether it is the issue with the Graphic card or not just check how things work in absense of the video card. If you have an on-board video adapter connect your monitor to it. Do the necessary adjustments in the BIOS or you can simply remove the videocard and check. If things remain the same or you are unable to do it for some reason, we will proceed assuming that the issue is on the OS side. Possibility is that certain anti- OS applet might have modified some registry entries causing the issue to occur. If you have done some level of scanning, scanning again multiple times might be of little help. What you can do in such cases is that you use a tool called as Smit Fraud Fix. http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.exe Simply run this small tool, using it in Safe Mode will fetch you best results. First clean the computer by pushing no. "2" and perform a registry cleanup as well, push "Y" when prompted. It will reset the Wallpaper to blank blue screen. Restart the computer and set your desired wall paper and check out. And do let us know about the results. Wishing you goodluck ! Please rate me up if you find my post helpful. Thank you!

Glad to know that your wallpaper has been fixed. However, let me tell you that there are many files in your temp folder which is consuming your system resources and might cause problems in the future. the best is to get rid of them as early as possible. Just turn on the computer in Safe mode and then type Temp in the Run box. The Temp folder will open up simply select all and delete them. Well , you can continue to post here. In case of any urgency you can also directly email my email address is : Email removed for privacy Thanks Best Regards, Please rate me up if you find my post helpful. Thank you!

Back up your files and install windows again if its a big deal. this will fix it! Please rate me up if you find my post helpful. Thank you! I was building my system over a months and years... i can not just "backup my files" and install again... such policy will mean that i will have to maintain strict account for which program i have installed and from where i got it. but this is impossible. Or i have to narrow the area of usage of the computer (to few programs that i will install every time when something is going wrong). this is very inconvenient. So is there way to make transfer of installed programs to another installation or another computer? not just my documents but also all other installed programs ? and what about such transfer of installed programs to next version of windows? it would be good if this was possible. about the problem with the wall paper and back ground now i have suspicion that this problem is caused by some kind of network attack using windows vulnerabilities and holes and i am not sure if there is patch for these vulnerabilities - perhaps there is , but i see only 3 people needing solution for this problem - so it is not very likely to be solved ... by the way if this problem is due to the holes of windows - the fresh install will be pointless loss of time and effort , and even may make thinks worst if i will not manage to download the necessary updates on time. so "install again" is not a solution at all ... and if fresh install was the solution this would mean that every windows is getting worst and worst every hour of usage ... i don't believe this is true. thanks best regards

there is evolution in my problem I have a program webshots desktop it changes the wallpaper in some period of time, and it has strange behavior: after about an hour work after restarting suddenly becomes impossible to change the desktop picture - the desktop used to turns black - i have heard for similar behavior with non genuine windows, but on a genuine windows and no message that this is not genuine Windows . then after installing some updates the screen stopped turn black - now it takes the color of a background, now image on the desktop remains but when i move a window after the window image does not appear - only background color. i can put a picture only in "tile" or "center" mode. in stretch mode or if the picture is more than 1024x780 it not appear on the desktop. and webshots desktop is unable to show pictures in full screen mode - it shows only gray screen after some recent updates there is some hope - the problem disappears it self but after a while it appears again , and then again disappears ..., and in the end is unable to resume from hibernation and i have to restart... if i go into hibernation soon after restart waking from hibernation is normal, but if i go into hibernation after a problem with wallpaper has occurred, waking from hibernation is problematic - it not happens after the first time but after a few restarts. and after the exit of hibernation the picture on the desktop and some icons have been read so as the color of their pixels is selected randomly, and some pictures in some websites in the web browser have the same problem - random coloring of pixels. I noticed that the problem with the desktop picture is preceded by a multiple flutter of icons on the desktop - such as the refresh option is selected on the shortcut menu. and another which seems related to the problem: if I try to run 16-bit application i received an error that no system resources and i have to restart - immediately after the restart 16 bit system is working ... some times. and other: if I try to change the screen resolution (after the problem with picture occurred)- it does not change the resolution but the window appears asking whether i see the image, and when i push the "yes", without any prior notice it is triggered the function for restarting the computer and in seconds the computer restarts. what i not tried?, nor anti-virus or firewall does not help anything, and repair option of setup of Windows does not help , and a new installing of windows (without formatting the disk) does not help - i tried this eventually - it was in vain to a format of the hard disk I do not want to come, perhaps the problem is in webshots desktop but it was working good for a long time. is it possible that this problem could be related to some updates ? can anyone help?
