have to change permission settings for all installed programs
HI, after a clean install of Win 7 64 bit, I installed software; the isntalaltions went mostly painless, but the created icons were empty in the start menu. When I tried to execute these shortcuts, nothing happened; neither could I move them to another folder. Also, the folder for that program would show as (empty) until I have first changed permission, then change permission /owner on every single item of the folder content, so the icon itself will appear and the main program folder for the program will actually not show anylonger as (empty). I am running a user account belonging to the admin group. More recently, I have encountered serious issues even logged on as admin when installing programs that require access to the common files folder. Is there any way to grant the admin or member of admin group access to do anything ? It sems rather unnecessary I have to unlock every program several times before I can actually use it.

Hi, To launch or install certain software, you can right click the software and click “Run as administrator” option so that you can grant the administrator permission to run the software. Alternatively, you can right click the software and select Properties. In the Compatibility tab, please check “Run this program as an administrator” option under Privilege Level. If you would like to do everything as administrator, here are two methods. 1. Turn off UAC in Control Panel. 2. Show the built-in Administrator account and login on the machine with that account.
