groupe policy and windows update
I have a probelm with some setting on my windows 7 prof, one beeing windows update, I can not set any setting as it seems to be set by a group policy. I am on a domain, but our domain administrator say that no gp are set!?. Is there any way I can see what is set and or change these group policies. Thay are in work even if I log in as a local user outside the domain. I have tried opening the group policy editor on my PC(gpedit.msc)but I can not find any that has been activated.

Hi, What do you mean that you cannot set any setting in Windows Update? Is the relevant setting grayed out, such as “Change Settings” and “Check for updates”? At this stage, I would like to share you the following articles to configure Group Policy for Windows Update. Windows Update Group Policy setting set to default How to configure automatic updates by using Group Policy or registry settings If the issue persists, please temporarily turn off firewall for a test. Thanks, Novak

Thanks going to "change settings"; at the top is a marked text box saying "Some settings are managed by your system administrator" and most are grayed out, only; Recommended updates, Microsoft Updates and software notification are NOT grayed out. But the real problem is that non of our PC on the domain is making the updates automatically alltough it state so in the "Important Update" field???! - I have now tryed to go to the window update groupe policy setting, I could change this- and I will se if that helps on my PC. I tryed to change the firewall according to you recommedtion, but (again) I am not allowed to check "actions" in out and inbound rules, nor take the firewall off! Also here the txt box "For you security, some settings are managed by your system administrator" I dont know, but I belive that our system admin. has somthing to do with it, although he say that he has not set any rules, could it be some "microsoft small buisness server 2003" rules that are generic set that he do not know off. thanks Kivin

Hi, This symptom is normal in domain and Windows Update settings are protected by Group Policy. Regarding to the message when accessing Windows Firewall, you can refer to the following article: Serious Windows Firewall issue Based on current situation, if you would like to configure Windows Update or Windows Firewall settings, you can modify relevant policy. Thanks, Novak
