gpedit.msc missing in Windows XP SP2 Home Edition : Need to re-enable Javascript in IE6
Apologies for posting this in a Vista Security forum, but I couldn't find a similar one for XP. I was prompted to download Flash Player 10 on my XP SP2 Home Edition systemto view avideo in IE6, and it appears that javascript may somehowhave become disabled, not allowing Flash Player to run as an add-on program. I succesfully backed up (set a restore point)my Registry following instructions in MS support article 322756, and then tried to follow instructions in MS support article 915729 to use gpedit.msc to adjustRegistry values for IE...Security Features...Add-on Management. However, gpedit.msc does not appear to be on my system, even in hidden files and folders. Are there other ways I can do this without gpedit.msc ?

Hi,Gpedit.msc is not included with Windows XP Home.http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb457127.aspxYou may be able to accomplish your goal using registry hacksunder the HKCU and HKLM Policies keys (Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies). Alternatively, you can try Doug Knox's Windows XP Security Console (which, btw, works on Home Edition):http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_securityconsole.htmRegards,Salvador Manaois IIIMCITP | Enterprise & Server AdminMCSE MCSA MCTS CIWA C|EHBytes & Badz: http://badzmanaois.blogspot.com
