Hang up. Microsoft will never call you for anything like this. Same thing with the sites that promise to update your drivers or scan your computer for errors. Don't do that either. And for your own safety, don't give any of them a credit card number. SC Tom

have been getting calls from Global maintenance dept of windows operating system wanting me to purchase a hacking software.... as they have information that my computer have too many errors in it. It's a "scam" so, ensure to AVOID installing whatever s/w or allowing the caller to get access to your system or giving some "juicy" informations (passwords, internal network informations, credit-card numbers... ok, I think you got it) If and when you'll get such a call again, play the "dumb" role (that is "I'm just an employee here, I'm not sure what you're talking about...") but ensure to "keep your point" (don't give them any info, a "I'm not sure" or "I don't have such infos but I may ask..." will suffice), then, ask them to give you a number which you may call to contact them back; if you're lucky enough they may eat the bait and... well, just call the Law Enforcement (police...), ensure to talk to some knowlegeable person and give them all the infos and details Notice that in many cases, those calls may come out from hacked VoIP devices used as "proxies" to place calls while the real "caller" may be in some other foreign country, so, while the police may be unable to catch the folk(s), they may (at least) be able to contact the legit owner of that line and ensure they'll fix things
