get rid of Virtumonde.dll
Virtumonde locked down my computer. I took it to the shop and they said it was impossible to open, so they installed a new hard drive. I have started re-installing everything. I installed Spybot and ran that. It showed Virtumonde.dll from about file 90,000 to over file 198,000. It would appear that the trojan has hidden in the computer somewhere. Can this be cured or is the computer ruined forever?1 person needs an answerI do too

Hi House Logf,Actually, I do not agree to the local tech boys that there is really a need to replace your hard drive. So long as your hard drive is being detected by Windows, the malware can still be removed. Ultimate approach is by doing clean-installation. But that's the very last thing I would recommend when I remove a malware. Here's what you need to do, House Logf.1. Reboot the computer in Safe Mode with Networking. If you have a Wireless Internet Connection Type, have a hardwire internet connection. To reboot in Safe Mode with networking: a. Press the restart button. b. The moment you press the restart button, keep on tapping F8 until the Advanced Boot Options appear. C. Select Safe Mode with Networking2. Open Internet Explorer browser and go to http://safety.live.com.3. Run a Full Service Scan of the OneCare Safety Scanner.4. Take note of the items that are detected but cannot be removed, if any. Get back to me with the names of infections that cannot be removed, if any.5. After removing the infections (if any), boot back in the Normal Mode by simply restarting the computer the normal way you do it. Let me know if there is a "Virtumonde" or something else detected by the Safety Scanner. If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Propose as Answer" If you find it helpful , mark it as helpful by clicking on "Vote as Helpful" button at the top of this message.
