Can you open Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Desktop Gadgets? If not, you may open the folders C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets and C:\Program Files\Windows Sidebar\Shared Gadgets, remove the folder of the gadgets you would like to uninstall. Then you may open Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Desktop Gadgets. If the gadget is still there, uninstall it. Arthur Xie - MSFT

If found if I right click on the desktop select view and uncheck "show desktop gadgets" and then re-eable "show desktop gadgets" all my gadgets are then visible, and I can open the desktop gadget gallery.
