funny network problem on vista
I am trying to solve arather bizarre problem (I think) I have a Toshiba laptop running Vista basic on a LAN IP address is served by a dhcp router (linksys) who also provides internet connection. Up to last week the laptop was sharing files (there exists a samba linux mandrake server) and using internet with no problems. Something happened and has no access to either the local network nor the LAN. Up to here there is nothing funny The laptop has Ethernet link, communicates with the DHCP server and gets IP From the command prompt It displays a well formed routing table It pings nicely computers inside and outside the LAN and even pings URLs which means that does DNS translations !!! and tracert works fine too. No pages are displayed in Internet explorer (the page cant be found) And no LAN computers can be found in the neighborhood other than itself Naturally the rest of the net is fine . Anybody who can offer suggestion..... Please do
