Is this computer part of a Domain? It is displaying SID instead of an actual user name. It could be name resolution issue, deleted accounts etc etc Santhosh Sivarajan | MCTS, MCSE (W2K3/W2K/NT4), MCSA (W2K3/W2K/MSG), CCNA, Network+ Houston, TX http://blogs.sivarajan.com/ http://publications.sivarajan.com/ This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

Hi, Please enable Administrator account on the machine and login on the machine as administrator, and then remove the "Unknown Account" in Folder's Security tab. After that, please add your current account in the Security group and restart the machine for a test. For more information, please refer to the link below: delete this account unknown Thanks, Novak

Somebody might have assigned a user permission to that folder. That user is no longer available or deleted. You can delete these SIDs if it is not in use or add the actual user name to the permission tab. Can you tell me whether the folder is a system folder or a local folder? Is it in system drive or other local drive? If the folder is a system folder, the user permission to that folder won't be existed. Otherwise, the permission may be already existed. As Santhosh was mentioned, the issue may occur if the folder permission was changed by Someone else. Please try above suggestions to delete the SIDs. Thanks, Novak

Hi, To clear the closed lock on the folder, please open the folder's Properties tab and then add "Users" to "Group or User names" in Security tab. Regards, Novak
