folder containing pdfs is so slow to open using windows 7
My office recently switched over to Windows 7. We have 4 machines with file sharing. one machine is being accessed by 3 other machines. the main machine being used as a server (running windows7)but is not a dedicated server. One folder that contains 11K pdf files takes about 2 minutes to open every time. Any suggestions on what to do? We already changed the folder options to general. This problem started occurring only AFTER we installed Windows service pack 1

Hi toria127, you said.. One folder that contains 11K pdf files takes about 2 minutes to open every time. Can you set this folder to be a virtual path and assign it a Drive letter. Even add it to the path line in bootup. That would help I'd think. Not sure if that's the best way to do it though - perhaps you need to index/cache it instead? All the best with solving it. pkn2011 If my post was helpful - give it a Vote. If it helps solve your problem - propose it as Answer. ;-)

Hi, According the issue, you may take following steps to do that: 1. Click Start button, type “gpedit.msc” in Search Bar. 2. Move to User Configuration\ Administrative Templates\Start Menu and Taskbar 3. Enable the option “Remove and prevent access to the Shut Down, Restart, Sleep, and Hibernate commands”. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
