fix I.E.?
Had to use Google chrome to be able to write in this space after signing in. I.E. 8 shows this as un-writeable. What are settings to fix I.E.? Reset? Reinstall W. 7?

show what as un-writeable? What version of Windows 7 do you have? Reset IE8 disable any IE8 addon's/accelerators http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/support/faq.aspx read for more info. You could also run the sfc /scannow to seeMCSE, MCSA, MCDST [If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. While this forum is particularly complex, and I often have small difficulties editing my existing posts, I don't have any problems writing them in IE 8.Notably scripting and other extension capabilities must be enabled for these pages to work.Try closing the IE window and re-opening it. If that fails, try starting IE without Add-ons and see if that helps.-Noel

Have you added any restrictions to the default security settings for Internet Explorer?I have, and I have to add this site to my Trusted Sites list (which has very low restrictions) to be able to post here.-Noel

Well you just did identify one piece of software which isn't compatible with Windows 7 Microsoft discontinued sales of Windows Live OneCare on October 15, 2009, which was before the Windows 7 release. They now offer Microsoft Security Essentials , a free antivirus program for home computers. For other possibilities, see the Windows 7 consumer security software providers page.http://onecare.live.com/standard/en-US/activation/oc_eol_guidance.htmIf you don't upgrade to Windows 7, you can continue to use your existing OneCare subscription until it expires. An online version of the OneCare safety scanner is still availableMCSE, MCSA, MCDST [If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. One care has nothing to do with my inability to use I.E.8 to interact with this forum. In Windows 7 32bit it does not work. Am currently using I.e.8 in Windows 7 64Bit. I unchecked I.E. 8 in Tun Windows features on and off, then rechecked it after reboot. Also uninstalled all Live apps. seeing that Windows live was in my add-ons 5 times, thinking that had something to do wit it. If there is a problem in accessing this form then what else is wrong with it? Only safe thing to do is not to use I.E. 8. So what is the answer to my question?

Registering every DLL that IE uses accomplishes what, exactly? I can't imagine that this won't have some negative implications in the future when the software is updated.I can assure you that more hacking and slashing will not deal with the problem directly. It's something you've already done or installed that's the root cause of the problem. How do I know this? I am typing this message in IE8 on Win 7 Ultimate 32 bit. The problem is not systemic.-Noel

Noel, was you directing your query to me? (refererncing the DLL's) All I did is find a post that was marked as an answer (even showed the link I got it from) and posted it here ;) Personally I'd take another route that I know he won't take ;)MCSE, MCSA, MCDST [If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message.
