can't activate firewall - could it be some network connecion strategy that takes over?

answer is yes, and found solution here:http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B940668&x=2&y=14even though i dont remember connecting to a windows 2k network, this worked (with WORKAROUND option)take note in case...jm
