Hi
Integrated devices such as Webcams, FingerPrint Readers, Speakers, and etc, are supported by the computer manufacturer and usually require customized drivers for those systems.
Please contact HP Support for a solution.

Hi
There is just too much information that I cannot determine from here.
Go to this link:
Product
search results - Pavilion dv6-1300
There are 2 results shown there, the
"et" model and the
"ev" model. Which one are you using?
HP Pavilion dv6-1300 Entertainment Notebook PC series
HP
Pavilion dv6-1390et Entertainment Notebook PC
HP
Pavilion dv6-1390ev Entertainment Notebook PC
If you select either one of those links, on the next page, select
Software and Driver Downloads.
On the next page, select
Windows 7 (32-bit).
In the list of drivers, expand the
Keyboard, Mouse, and Input Devices.
There is no Fingerprint Reader device listed there?
There is a
Validity Sensor listed.
Is this what they call the fingerprint reader?
These are all questions that HP can easily answer, but I don't have a clue?
You will get much better and faster results if you ask someone from HP these questions. Please post your question in the following HP
Support Forum.

If the issue persists after trying Ronnie's suggestions, it is recommended contact HP directly to check this issue.
We cannot eliminate the possibility of the hardware corruption.

kinda of crazy way to fix this but have you tried to look at the hardware manage and see if it is not installed correctly and turned on? That might help alittle but if not try and have HP scan you system and find the issue.

Validity Sensor is the same thing Ronnie. But it could also be that it is not configured correctly either. those things a re touchy.
