To take ownership with full permissions on a drive, click the Windows Orb (Start) > All Programs > Accessories and right-click Command Prompt, then ‘Run as Administrator’. Type these two commands, each followed by the Enter key, then close the Command Prompt. In the example, I have used drive d: as the drive and Michael as the user name, change both of them accordingly. takeown /f d: icacls d: /grant Michael:F Note that any files that are owned by the ‘Trusted Installer’ cannot be changed using take ownership.

Hi, Using GUI can also take the Ownership. please refer the following steps to take the Ownership. 1. Right-Click the file or folder. 2. Click Advanced, then hit Owner on the tab. 3. Then take the Ownership to you. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. i'm having the same problem with the Avira folder. i'm trying to uninstall it and it didn't work via Revo uninstall program and it told me to do it manually and when i did it said: File Access Denied You need permission from Administrators to make changes to this file. so i tried what you said and its still happening? anybody? also it says "takedown" is not a command? help
