file locked when saving over the network
Very peculiar situation User has a file on the server (PDF file) logs in from a windows 7 pro machine as a normal user goes to the network and opens the pdf. makes changes and tries to save and it says another user has locked it. When I check the server no user has that file open. restarted the client machine but no luck. I am stumped because it keeps happening on several other files on a random basis. I was reading about oplocks but dont know if that would change anything. Please help. update: This is exactly what is happening except the client is a windows 7 machine "File Lock or Access Denied Error Message When You Save Files Over the Network" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/812937

Hi, Thanks for the post! I would like to know more information about this issue. 1. How about other kinds of file except the PDF? 2. Which server are you using? 3. What’s the exact error message are you receiving? 4. Which antivirus software are you using? 5. Are there any related events logs in Event Viewer? Since I’ve noticed that some XLS file could encounter this issue, I’m wondering which kind of PDF are you saving. Please temporarily turn off the antivirus software to check if the issue persists.
