file history in 8.1 is history

Why can't mickeysoft leave working programs alone. Now after 8.1 update, File history refuses to see me internal E: drive that I have been using for over a year for file history. I even tried using a network drive. no go. Apples looking better and better each year.

I have a running list of programs 8.1 has crippled that are part of windows.

Hi,

Is there any method you have tried to fix this problem. How about reenable File History for test? Please have a try.

In addition, please refer to the link below for more method to fix File History problem.

I tried your suggestions and it says there are no suitable drives. I had it up and running before 8.1 on any drive I chose.

When using a local file share as a workaround for File History to back up to a local drive, you will need to follow these steps:

  1. Create a folder on the target drive.
  2. Share this folder.
  3. Right click the folder and select properties.
  4. Select the Sharing tab, then select Advanced Sharing.
  5. Check the box for share this folder, verify the desired share name, and then select Permissions.
  6. Ensure that permissions are set so that your user has full permission on the share.
  7. Select OK on all windows then open File History.
  8. Select Add a Network Location.
  9. When specifying the share location, be sure to use \\127.0.0.1\ or \\localhost\ as the server on which the share is located to ensure connectivity to the share.

Hopefully either by changing permissions or the share location your issue can be resolved.
