This problem is caused by the system motherboard and is not an uncommon problem. I am running Windows 7 pro, I have an external dvd-rw with lightscribe, when it is pluged into my computer, Windows is slow to to recognize it and If it is plugged in when I startup the computer, the startup time is greatly increased, from 20 seconds to 1 minute. When I shut down Windows with the drive plugged in, it takes Windows about 45 seconds and longer to shut completely down. The drive is an Lg External Super Multi DVD Rewiter with lightscribe, Model #GP08LU11. I have tried different things from having it plugged directly into the computer or into a USB Hub. I am at my wits end, please help.

Thank you for the reply. I actually uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them, it has work just fine since. Please excuse me for not getting back to you sooner but have been very busy building a website for a business, I need to have it up by the 2nd of January.
