explorer doenst start on bootup
When I start my computer and logon to Windows, explorer.exe does not start correct. A windows explorer screen opens, but the taskbar doesn't show. I need to press CTRL-ALT-DEL and start taskmanager and run a new task from there. When I run the task "explorer.exe" I get the taskbar after all. Is this a common problem? Thanks!

I have installed on 13 different systems so far and have not seen that yet.

There may be other programs you installed that start automatically when logging on that could possibly be interfering with explorer's execution. Try and disable them so they don't run at log on and make note.Mr. Seven was here 2009.

Hi korebritsThis is not a common problem in Windows 7, but it has been seen before in previous versions of Windows. It's usually the result of a missing registry value. Here is the fix.Use the task manager to log on to the desktop.1. Press the WINKEY+R to bring up the Run dialog. Type regedit.exe in the box and press OK. This will open the registry editor.2. Navigate to the following key.HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon3. With the Winlogon key selected, look in the right side for the value named Shell.4. Double click the Shell value to open. In the Value Data box, you should see explorer.exe and nothing else. If it shows anything else, change it to Explorer.exe and click OK.Exit the registry editor, reboot the computer.Let us know the results.Warning: While this solution solves the issue or problem, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.
