event viewer
When I first install windows 8.1 I was able to type "event viewer" in the metro search and start it there.  Now when I do it it just gives link to descriptions of what it is. Did MS take that out now. The only way I can get to it now is a search from control panel.TIA

Easiest method IMO:  Win-x V   Otherwise, since it is an Admin command you may have to type the full program name eventvwr to see it, even when you have specified to show Admin commands.

Hmm... there used to be an option somewhere to avoid that.  I don't know which state mine is in.  I (dimly recollect) that there was an Options item in the MUF Settings charm which would do that.  It's gone.  Oh.  There it is.  It's Tiles not Options.  FWIW in there I have Don't show Administrative tools, so that explains why I have search for the whole program name explicitly (if I want to use the Start Screen).

Hello Cyberwasp,

Based on my test, I can find the event viewer in the metro search.

Please try to create a new account and check if you can find the event viewer in the metro search.

If you can, please refer to the following article to restore the corrupted profile.

This article is about Windows 7, and the Windows 8.1 is similar.

Best regards,
