I have the same problem. All worked fine with Windows 7 Beta but (after a clean install) with Windows 7 RC my computer disconnect from the router from time to time and, after that, sometimes It's able to reconnect by itself, therefore I have to reboot the router or the computer to be online again. Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 (3 PCI, 3 PCI-E x1, 1 PCI-E x16, 4 DDR2 DIMM, Audio, Gigabit LAN) Onboard network card: Marvell Yukon 88E8056 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller I tried to use drivers from Marvell website and problem still there. I hope somebody find a solution. Thanks!

You've made this sound like a virus... Are you dual booting or is the Windows XP on a separate machine?

Tell me something. When you download something that "takes a long time" does your computer ever go to sleep during this time frame? How long is a long time for this to happen?

when i said "take a long time" meaning i dl a big file so it requires some time to finish. i am using my desktop so i assume it doesnt sleep, and if it sleeps then how can i use the computer at that time?

hi ... i've been having the same problem for a couple of months now. my computer will work fine... i'll have internet access, can download, can do email, can surf, etc. ... then after *a while* (the time varies, could be two minutes, could be 20 minutes.... but it always happens)... after a while... i willlose my internet connection. i have disconnected from the router and gone directly into cable modem. same result. doesn't matter whether thereare other computers on the network or not. i also have the same ethernet card as above (Marvell Yukon), plus I have read (on several forum sites)of many others having the same problem. i tried checking to see if this card is compatible with Windows Vista ... but 'after a while' i lost my connectionand would have had to start all over again after i rebooted. Well.... anyway, that was last night and i called it quits when it crashed that last time.oh yes... i forgot to mention... the only way to get my internet connection back, is to reboot, which is a pain in the butt... especially if i'm working on someting important, or..... if i am working in several programs at once, and have to run around saving and closing everything before rebooting, onlyto have tostart all over again.and yesi am stumped... but based on trial and error, i am thinking that either, this ethernet controller is not compatible with Vista,or... the software isnot compatible with windows.Also.................................Some FYI's1- it doesn't seem to matter what kind of computer it is ... just as long as it has this ethernet card (mine happens to be an Acer laptop)2- i ran multiple diagnostics, on thecard and software ... there were no errors, and everything checked out3- there have been no error messages,4- it doesn't matter how many times you reset, restart, or reboot your router, your switch, or your cable modem. that won't fix the problem. So, if anyone has any ideas or suggestions... it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and enjoy your summer!!Enbee:oNancy Becker aka: Enbee

wow after so long and this is still not solved?if this is the case what if this still happens after win 7 officially releases?wouldnt that be a big problem?

Well, IF it is Win7 then WinXP shouldn't have that problem nor should it have gotten it. Sounds more like a hardware problem. I'd say router may be dying [you will know when it dies], onboard network device could be dying, or lan cable problem. Edit: Side note on a router "dying" when it comes to LAN. Generally, they start to disconnect, then only reboots of the router fix it, then anything you do will not bring a connection back at all. At that point its trash. Edit: as someone else pointed could be a virus. Could be drivers. Could be your connection gets zapped from something else messing with wifi in the air.
