On which partition the Recycle Bin is corrupt? For example, if Recycle Bin on C drive is corrupt, you may follow the steps below to delete Recycle Bin. 1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.2. Type the following command and press ENTER: rd /s /q C:\$Recycle.bin 3. Close the Command Prompt window. The following website may be referred. Recycle Bin Corrupted - Cannot Delete File or Folder - Vista ForumsArthur Xie - MSFT

I have this problem from installing windows 7 over an old system without reformatting the drive. Still can't delete files but got rid of the annoying message by renaming the recycle bin. From command prompt (running as administrator) I did this rename c:\$Recycle.Bin RecycleCorrupted Joseph Nielsen

Also eventually got rid of this by reformatting my drive after backing up through creating a VHD of my system. The funny thing is those corrupt or invalid files will still mess up the MFT of your VHD so that you can't compact it unless you're lucky enough that none of the sectors are near the edges of the VHD.
