error in setting up a homegroup
I am trying to reset the homegroup on my network. It was created on my laptop (win xp to win 7 pro upgrade) and the homegroup won't load. I have narrowed it down the the pnrp service not starting. I get a 1068 error. I have checked multiple forums and tried deleting the idstore.sst file, only the problem is that I don't have one and the system won't create one. The roaming directory is empty. I would like to delete the homegroup from the laptop completely and create a new one on my desktop (win 7 ult clean install). Any help is appreciated.

Dont delete home group, use the "leave home group" in home group settings. Do this for all your PC's. Then create a new home group on your desktop, and join with your other PC's. Home group and network are not the same, only windows 7 OS's can join Home group, other's you need to use network.

Error 1068 means “The dependency service or group failed to start”. Please open services.msc from Start Search box, manually check the status and properties of the UPNP service and the dependency services. Make sure that the dependency services are all enabled. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
