I've had the exact same problem too, mine was caused when i flashed the bios with an unlocked bios. I can boot into some versions of linux. I don't understand why I can't boot into windows or boot from a windows cd... Any ideas?
Here's where I'm at so far...
Product Name: HP Pavilion Dv7 Notebook
I am trying to flash the orginal bios back to my laptop. I no longer have the orginal hard drive. So I am using the external usb bios recovery method. When I boot the computer with the "Windows Key"
& "B" pressed when powering on the computer I just get a blank screen the usb drive just has a steady blink, it doesn't looking like it's trying to read any files on the usb drive.
So my main question is why does it go blank? Is there any other ways to flash the original bios back on? Can I do it via dos? If do I need special switches included in the command line? Or can I just run the dos
flash utility?
So here's what I've got:
HP Pavilion Dv7 Notebook
Product Number: VM188UA#ABA
BIOS Verison: InsydeH20 Rev. 3.5 F.1D
So below is a quick synopsis of my what I've done so far. This all started because I wanted to unlock some features in the bios. So I headed over to bios mod's website & BDMaster
a forum Moderator supplied me with an unlocked bios for my laptop. Well now when I try to boot to windows or boot to install a new copy of windows from DVD I get this error with the error code being: Oxc0000225
I"ve been trying to get into Windows so that I can use InsydeH20 flash utility to flash the original bios back and hopefully that will fix it. But I can't seem to get into windows to do that. I've tried like
Windows to go, WinToUSB and I'm working on Windows PE now in hopes that works.
I've even tried installing windows XP but the install fails.
've tried downloading the HP UEFI Utility and used it in combination with Andy's tools. I don't think my bios is encrypted, but I did use the tool to find out the name that I should
use for my bios. It suggested E.BI? C.BI? C.BI? So I'm assuming I just put two copies in the H:\Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\Current\ folder one being E.BIN and the other being C.BIN -does that look right? I didn't think so... but I did try just having E.Bin
and C.Bin in the current folder and that didn't seem to work.
So anyways I plugin the flash drive with the computer off, and I press & hold "Windows Key" and "B" and power on the computer my screen goes blank and the USB drive just does a steady blink
there is no sound or anything else that occurs.

Suggested I used the names of 363E.bin 363C.bin 3658.bin 3659.bin 365C.bin so I tried those names, now all I'm doing is putting a copy of all those in my current folder on the flash drive. When I boot up I still
get the blank screen when trying to flash the bios. It's as if it's not loading the HP Flash recovery utility, and the flash drive just does a steady blink. So any ideas as to why this is happening?
*To note under my battery it says 363-200
Am I doing everything right? Is there supposed to be other files on the HP_Boot flash drive besides the ones that it puts on the flash drive? Because all I'm doing is copying the bin file and renaming it to 363C.bin
and putting it into the current folder. I've also tried some other names that I listed above.
I can still get into bios if I need, which is the unlocked version , but can't boot to windows or install windows because I get a oxc0000225 error.
I can boot to some versions of linux, but I don't know much about linux
So I'm not sure what to do at this point? Do you have any ideas? If I could just get it to a point where I could just plain fix it and get it to boot or get it to a point where I could flash the old bios I think
I would be in good shape.
Any ideas would be helpful, I will come back to post if I have success. Please help
Thank you all very much
