I have got connected to my other older NAS western digital drive which is connected to the same router.
I have tried disabling the windows firewall. the anti virus software but this has had no effect.
I have checked the settings in the network sharing area and they seem OK.
Has anyone any ideas?
Try the .Net 4 Updater-
Then from WD Product support try the Discovery Software Updater
Then, you may want to check for a firmware update, and then perhaps use the WD software - Live Duo Setup.
Any joy?
Hi,
Based on Nano Warp's suggestion, please check NetBIOS settings:
- Press Windows + R on the keybpard, and type control panel in the search box and then press Enter.
- Click View network status and tasks under Network and Internet.
- Click Change adapter settings in the left pane.
- Right-Click on the connection and choose Properties.
- Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Version 4 in the list.
- Click Properties, and then click Advanced.
- On the Advanced TCP/IP settings windows, go to WINS tab.
- Under NetBIOS setting, click Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP, and then click OK.

The .NET 4 updater reported that the version of NET 4 installed was the latest version.
Discovery Software Updater also reported version of Discovery Software was the latest. However I notice that the Discovery software doesn't appear complete onscreen when loaded. It does pick up the DUO but only two bars are black, the others greyed out, you can't read the name on the bars. Also the information underneath the bars can't be read.
WD quickview reportd DUO and it is working OK
Smartview also picks up the DUO
This doesn.t seem to make any difference.
The same error message.
Troubleshoot says can't fix problem.
