error code:0x8007064e - this is a MSSE error code
I can neither uninstall nor install both iTunes or MS Security Essentials. My Security Essentials disappeared totally a few days ago after I updated some Dell Drivers - around that time. I Tunes has been a problem for several months like that. MS Security is a new problem either after I acted upon a a suggestion on the internet to drag iTunes files into the wastebasket!!!! as a way to fix the problem for iTunes with the result of MS Security disappearing. For both programs the error message when trying to uninstall or install - both – "the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Furthermore, I have been getting the error message 0x8007064e when I reboot for several days now. Today I did the following and it did not work:1. Windows Installer fix itWindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe2. Reset internet browser with Microsoft Fix It3.http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=96656834.SC delete MsMpSvc 5.. RegeditHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software>Microsoft>Microsoft Antimalware --- Right click on Microsoft Antimalware and delete the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software>Microsoft>Microsoft Security Essentials --- Right click on Microsoft Security Essentials and delete the key6. Attempted to remove all temp files – Got 99 percent out but some would not let me remove them After all this I could uninstall or install neither iTunes nor Security Essentials.I have no protection now.

thanks nass for the scan info; however, I am concerned that it will install these programs and then I can't get rid of them and it REALLY will not allow me to install MS Security Essentials. Am I correct in this?I carried out some of the other suggestions, but nothing solves my problem and I keep getting the error code 0x 8007064e or c, depending - and it keeps saying the programs are on a network server that is unavailable or something like this.Theresa I CAN TELL NOW THAT THIS IS A SECURITY ESSENTIALS ERROR CODE. AFTER DOING A SYSTEM RESTORE TO A DATE BEFORE I INSTALLED MSSE, THE ERROR CODE WENT AWAY. OF COURSE I HAD ALSO REMOVED MSSE BY VARIOUS MEANS. (I STILL CAN'T INSTALL MSSE BUT THIS TROUBLE IS ON ANOTHER THREAD.)
